I was born in Castiglion Fiorentino in the province of Arezzo and , after high school, I moved to Florence where I obtained a degree in Medicine and Surgery, I continued my studies and specialized in Orthopedics and Traumatology at the Orthopedic Traumatology Center under the guidance of Professor Aglietti. I deepened my knowledge during my specialization by working abroad in hospitals in Berlin, New York and Bern. These experiences exposed me to the expertise of the best orthopedic surgeons in the world and to learn new surgical techniques. After specialization I preferred to leave my permanent position in the hospital to complete a one-year clinical fellowship at the University of Western Ontario in London Canada. In the 6 months of super specialization in hip and knee prosthetic surgery I performed approximately 150 procedures under the supervision of Professor RB Bourne. In the six months of superspecialization in arthroscopic surgery I performed approximately 200 arthroscopic knee surgeries under the supervision of Dr Bob Giffin.
Subsequently I was Orthopedic Medical Director at the New Hospital of Prato and the Center of Excellence for Joint Replacements (CESAT) of Fucecchio working in service at the Villa Fiorita Nursing Home in Prato, the Frate Sole Nursing Home in Figline Valdarno, the Santa Rita Hospital in Montecatini. I have also been working for about 20 years in the Villa Donatello and Villa Cherubini Prosperius nursing homes in Florence.
For about a year I have been responsible for the Orthopedic Team at the Villa Regina nursing home in Bologna and I collaborate with the Professor Nobili nursing homes in Castiglione dei Pepoli (Bo), Domus Nova (RA), San Giuseppe Hospital in Arezzo.
My experience of about 20 years in the field in Italy and around the world has allowed me to deal with the most varied and complex situations of elective orthopedic and trauma surgery, maintaining a constant dialogue with patients and their families. I am able to carry out an in-depth analysis of the patient’s health conditions, trying to arrive at the diagnosis in the shortest possible time, in order to administer treatment and perform surgery quickly and appropriately. I deal with minimally invasive hip and knee prosthetic surgery, robotic and with rapid recovery of movement, arthroscopic knee surgery for ligament, meniscal and cartilaginous pathologies, minimally invasive surgery of the forefoot such as hallux valgus and Morton’s neuroma, I perform optimization of conservative therapy thanks to applications of platelet-rich plasma and implantation of mesenchymal stem cells from bone marrow or adipose tissue.
The many years of work and my experience make me they taught the importance of listening in dialogue with the patient and understanding the importance of setting up a personalized treatment plan for each patient I treat.
The aim of my therapy is to give patients back their walking ability, movement, carrying out common daily activities and sporting and recreational activities. I therefore realized how my activity has a very important social role.
Throughout my studies and work I have always left time and space to my wonderful family who supported me in choices and difficult moments.
The essence of my work, in my opinion, it means caring with humanity.
